Programs By Age

NSPAC has carefully crafted its programs with child development in mind. Changes in biological and cognitive development of pre-school, school-age, and adolescent children help determine when subjects are introduced, class sizes, student-teacher ratio, etc.

Programming is organized into groups by age:

Mini Ages 2.5 – 5 Years (Preschool)

Petite Ages 5 - 7 Years (Grades K-2)

Juniors Ages 8 - 10 Years (Grades 3-5)

Teens Ages 11+ (Grades 6+)

Seniors Ages 14+ (Grades 9-12)

Adults Ages 18+

While NSPAC programming is based on general child development, they are guidelines. NSPAC recognizes individual development. Class placement is determined by teacher evaluation. Students with little or no experience may be placed in a younger class for the first year of study.

Preschool Age Our preschool students will benefit from smaller class size and a teacher and assistant to student ratio of 2 to 8/10. This is a great age to introduce the joy of movement. Building coordination, strength, and balance in combination with working with peer groups and dance class etiquette are some of the primary objectives of the class. Mini Movement is followed by  Mini Ballet which introduces basic ballet positions and terms.

Middle & High School Age Our teen age students continue the exploration of dance styles. We also offer multi-leveled classes for students who are a bit more serious and want more technical training. Proper training is included in both levels.

Pre-Pointe and Pointe classes are introduced to those who are dedicated to the art of ballet. Enrollment into Pointe, like all advanced level classes, is at the discretion of the teacher. Pre-Pointe and Pointe students are required to take 5 hours per week of ballet classes.
