Faculty

NSPAC has amazing teachers who believe in NSPAC’s core values. They each bring with them a passion to teach, the ability to help each student progress with their technique, the desire to explore the diversity of performing styles, and positive energy.

SHAYNA CHAPMAN dance has been dancing for over 20 years. She began teaching in 2004, the same year she toured the US with the Dance Olympus faculty where she worked with award-winning choreographers. Shayna has taught dance in both the Boxford and Topsfield Public Schools and the Ipswich Family YMCA. She is currently the Director & Coach for Yellow Jacket’s Elite Cheer team. Shayna is always eager to share her and her dancers’ passion for dance at various fundraising events. Many of her students have competed regionally & nationally winning outstanding medals and special awards including 2011 OnStage NY Critic's Choice Nominee. After winning a national dance competition, Shayna was awarded the ‘Future Star Award’ and featured in Dance Spirit Magazine’s December 2006 edition.  
 
greg.jpg image by memcdermetGREG COLES dance is an affiliated teacher who brings his Latin dance program to NSPAC. Greg is a graduate of Weslyan University where he studied technique, movement analysis, kinesiology, and choreography. He has studied with many African and Latin instructors as well with Pearl Lang of the original Martha Graham Company and was on scholarship with at the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater School in New York. Greg teaches African Dance at Tufts University where he is a part-time professor. He has provided instruction in African and Latin Dance at Salem State University and other North Shore schools and colleges. He frequently shares his talents with many charitable organizations, temples, churches and schools for all ages. 
   

DEBI COCCO dance is a lifelong dancer and teacher specializing in tap. Debi, an award winning choreographer, is certified by test to teach by Dance Masters of America Chapter 5 and Dance Teachers Club of Boston and is a former studio owner and artistic director. A published author in Dance Teacher Now magazine, she is also a judge for American Miss Talent and Olympic Miss Talent dance competitions. Debi was a choreographer for a Stageone Theater whose productions have included Snow White, Cinderella, Wizard of Oz, Broadway Bound, Grease, and Starlight Express. 

andrea2.jpg image by memcdermetANDREA LORETZ-FREY voice holds a Master of Music degree in Opera Performance, The Boston Conservatory and a BA in German and German Literature from Binghamton University.  Andrea has over 25 years performance experience throughout the East Coast, US  and Europe and continues performing in Boston, throughout MA, & NY. She is the founder, co-director of, and performance artist with improvisational performance troupe, Improvelocity. This unique and one-of-a-kind performance troupe incorporates prose and poetic works with improvisational music and voice performance using classical, musical theater, jazz and indigenous genres. Andrea has an extensive performance history of recitals, galas, fundraisers, and other specialized events. She continues performance in a variety of genres that include : sacred improvisation, jazz, indigenous aesthetics, opera, sacred works, folk, lieder, classical art songs, musical theater and more. She has had the privilege of performing with Tri-Cities Opera in performances such as Romeo and Juliet, New Moon, Magic Flute, Lakme, Die Fledermaus, and La Boheme. "Our voice is the medium through which we extend our hearts" – Andrea Loretz-Frey

KELLI-ANN NAVE dance  enjoys teaching her love for jazz, contemporary, lyrical, & musical theater. She has received a bachelor’s degree in Dance from Dean College. Kelli received her early training from one of the top 50 dance studios in the country. She has competed & won many high score & choreography awards in numerous dance competitions throughout NY, MA, & NH. Kelli has been lucky to perform in national tours such as StarPower’s original Power Pak Tour and VEE Corporation’s Sesame Street Live, in Out of this World. Other performances included charities, such as Make-A-Wish and The Humane Society, being featured in Mike Price Around Town on WIXT Channel 9 News, opening for Blessed Union of Souls and Evan & Jaron, Magic Music Days in Walt Disney Florida, and with Dean College’s Dance Team. Kelli is happy to be teaching at NSPAC. Her choreography continues to win high score awards as well as special awards, including Dancers Inc. 2011 Most Outstanding Choreography Award. Kelli is currently teaching at several studios across the North Shore as well as performing & choreographing for Marblehead’s Little Theater and North Shore Players. “To dance is to be yourself. SUZANNE PERDUE ballet  has danced professionally in Boston, NY, and was dance captain for the LA production of Jesus Christ Superstar, Disneyland, television, video, films, & concert dance company work. Suzanne has attended Pierce College and was Owner & Artistic Director of Suzanne Perdue's Dancers Edge for 17 years in MA where her students won many dance titles, regional & national scholarships, and have appeared on Off-Broadway and Broadway stages. Suzanne was selected and designated as a Hometown Hero by Metrowest Daily News for her work with special needs children at her studio and was featured on NBCs Dateline segment entitled ‘Shyness and Kids’. In addition to teaching, she also adjudicates dance competitions and is in demand as a workshop / master teacher at dance intensives throughout the U.S. and Canada. Suzanne is also a former competitive baton twirler competing throughout the northeast, achieved rank of top 10 twirlers in the U.S, and 2nd runner-up Miss Massachusetts of Baton Twirling Pageant. Suzanne’s goal at NSPAC is to provide a quality dance education to all ages and levels as well as pass down traditions and dance history in a supporting manner in order to help dancers achieve their dreams and optimal skills as a technician and performer. 

 VANESSA VOTER-SHAHEEN ballet is Artistic Director and Choreographer for Methuen Ballet Ensemble, a semi-professional ballet company, and Director of the Classical Ballet program at Voter’s School of Dance. Ms. Voter attended The Boston Conservatory. In addition to dancing with Boston Ballet, she has also performed with Ballet Dance Theatre of Boston. She is a member of Dance Teachers Club of Boston and National Council of America. In addition to teaching classical ballet on a full-time basis, Ms. Voter has choreographed the ballets performed by Methuen Ballet Ensemble which she founded in 1989.  'Dance is the hidden language of the SOUL!' -Martha Graham
